Mariel Versluis is currently Professor of Printmaking and Drawing and Chair of the Printmaking Program at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She earned her MFA in Printmaking from Syracuse University in New York. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and is also in public and private collections. Mariel currently lives on a small farm with her horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and one llama. The small farm that she shares with her partner, Ben Mitchell, is also a part of her extended family’s Centennial fruit farm near Grand Rapids, Michigan. With her parents being avid horse riders (they met on horseback), one of Mariel’s first memories, at about 8 months old, is that of riding a horse, cradled between her mother’s arms. She has never stopped riding horses, and they are a mainstay in her life. M A R I E LV E R S L U I S .C O M 14 Inside/Out, 2017, paint woodcut, 48” x 72”
