Located in rural Wyoming, the Ucross Foundation is 17 miles northeast of Buffalo (Population is 3,500) and 27 miles southeast of Sheridan (population 13,000). The facilities are located on a 22,000-acre working ranch, nestled in the foothills of the Big Horn Mountain Range in the heart of sheep and cattle ranching country.

Sheridan Airport is served by connecting flights to and from Denver, Colorado. Ucross is easily accessible by automobile at the point where U.S. Highways 14 and 16 connect, near Buffalo, Wyoming. Bus service is available as well.
