Ucross Fellow Nominated for National Book Award

Congratulations to past Ucross Fellow Ben Fountain, who was nominated for a National Book Award in the category of Best Fiction for his novel Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (Ecco/Harper Collins).  Fountain worked on the book at Ucross in 2009. Also, the National Book Foundation (which administers the National Book Awards) selected past Ucross Fellow Justin Torres to be honored at their annual “5 Under 35 Celebration of Emerging Fiction Writers.”  He wrote part of his first novel, We the Animals (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), at Ucross in 2008.
Winners of the National Book Awards will be announced at a ceremony on November 14 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
