Opening Reception and Day of Festivities at Ucross Foundation Art Gallery The Universal Language of Birds

Ucross, Wyoming – June 1, 2017 – A day of festivities to celebrate the opening of the exhibition The Universal Language of Birds by Ucross Fellow Christina Baal, will take place at the Ucross Foundation Art Gallery on Saturday, June 10, 2017. The exhibition will also include bird-related art submitted by the local community. Details for the day’s schedule are as follows:

  • 9:00 am: Doors open At Ucross Foundation Art Gallery 
  • 9:30 am – 10:00 am: Presentation by Baal and Dr. Jackie Canterbury, President of Bighorn Audubon, with tips on birding and nature-journaling 
  • 10:00 am – 12 pm: Guided Bird walks by Baal and Canterbury, starting from Big Red 
  • 12 pm – 3 pm: Gallery Reception with artist talk and refreshments

Morning participants will receive nature journals and a copies of “Recognizing 10 Common Birds of Ucross and Wyoming” created by Baal for the event. Participants should wear weather appropriate attire and binoculars are recommended (a few will be on hand for guest use).

The exhibition is a collaboration supported in part by Bighorn Audubon, Audubon Rockies, BNSF Railway Foundation and the Wyoming Arts Council, through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wyoming State Legislature. The Ucross Foundation Art Gallery is located ½ mile east of the intersection of Highways 14 and 16 East in Ucross. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., or by appointment.
