6TH ANNUAL UCROSS COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION IN MEMORY OF RAYMOND PLANK SET FOR SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15

The event will feature a reading by author Craig Johnson and carols by the Buffalo Balladiers, as well as crafts for children

Ucross, Wyoming – November 19, 2018 – The sixth annual Ucross Community Christmas Celebration will take place on Saturday, December 15, at the Raymond Plank Creative Center in Ucross. Festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m sharp and continue through 6:00 p.m., culminating in the lighting of thousands of Christmas tree lights and a fireworks display. This year’s celebration is dedicated to the memory of Ucross Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Raymond Plank, who passed away on November 8, 2018 at the age of 96. The Community Christmas Celebration is free and open to the public.

This family-friendly community event includes a special reading of a Christmas story by bestselling author and Ucross neighbor Craig Johnson, as well as carols performed by the Buffalo Balladiers. There will be crafts for children and festive refreshments for all. The Raymond Plank Creative Center will feature a narrative display of stories and photographs that honor the life, vision, and accomplishments of Raymond Plank.

“The Ucross Community Christmas Celebration has become a beloved tradition in our area,” said Ucross President Sharon Dynak. “This year will be extra special as we honor our late Founder Raymond Plank. It was Raymond’s idea to create the Christmas event in 2013 and we are honored to continue his legacy. He loved winter in Wyoming and everything about the Christmas season. We look forward to gathering with friends and family at the Raymond Plank Creative Center.”

Powder River Energy Corporation has once again provided volunteer help with the Christmas tree lights in the Park at Ucross. Bruce Burns and his expert crew will present the spectacular fireworks show at 6:00 p.m.

In the spirit of Christmas, Ucross invites guests to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items for families in need. After the event, Ucross staff will distribute the donated items to several local community food pantries. In addition, this Christmas season, Ucross will contribute nearly 30 spruce trees from the Ucross tree nursery to the Volunteers of America – Northern Rockies (VOA), who will give these trees to families they serve.

The Raymond Plank Creative Center and the Park at Ucross are located at the intersection of Highways 14 and 16 east in Ucross.  For further information, visit www.ucross.org or contact (307) 737-2291 or info@ucross.org
