“Parts of me healed at Ucross. I was able to slow down, connect, listen, and share. The gift of time, space, food, and community breathed new life into my art practice.” — Ucross Fellow Natani Notah, Spring 2026
GROW WITH UCROSS
Ucross Foundation is located in the heart of our historic 20,000-acre ranch in northern Wyoming. In this unique location, we have fostered the creative spirit of artists and community members while serving as a responsible steward of our land for the past 43 years.
This spring, we are strengthening the beating heart of our nonprofit, the historic Big Red Ranch House and the land around it. This plan reflects our commitment to artists and the arts, as well as environment sustainability and community engagement. And we need your help.

FROM A SPROUT TO A ROSE
As the headquarters of Ucross, the Big Red Ranch House is the first stop for artists-in-residence. Travelers from across the nation also often find their way into the house, eager to explore its history. The building, constructed in 1882 and last renovated in 1982, is on the National Register for Historic Places. But at this time last year, the house was in dire need of significant structural work, inside and out, from roof to foundation.
Enter: Armand and Mary Brachman, longtime friends of Ucross. They wanted to save the Big Red Ranch House, preserving its historic integrity and its key role in our residency program. So, with their deeply generous support, we broke ground in late July. Nine months later, construction is nearly complete. By summer, we hope, the Big Red Ranch House will be restored to its original glory. The space is sure to serve as home of our artist residency program for decades to come.
But we’re not done yet. We need your help to cross the finish line.

GIVE THE GIFT OF BUDS, BLOOMS,
AND BEAUTY
With your support, we will thoughtfully cultivate the area to protect the historic character of the building, as well as invigorate artists upon their arrival, in any season.
Together, we can bring inspiration and creativity into the Ranch House landscape in time for summer. With your gift, we can plant anything from pear trees to peonies.
How your gift will plant the seeds:
With a flourishing gift from you, this will energize artists to immerse themselves in their creative work, free of distractions. And in turn, this support ripples out: After their Ucross residency, writers, visual artists, composers, choreographers, and performers have gone on to inspire millions across the globe through their award-winning work.

How your gift will plant the seeds:
- Provides more habitats for pollinators and preserve biodiversity.
- Improve the well-being of our land and air quality.
- Strengthen our commitment to field-to-fork dining by planting fruit trees.
- And simply: plants are beautiful. They add color and enhance the beauty of this space for not only the artists-in-residence but the community.
