Kate Schutt is a Ucross alumna, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer living in New York City. Raised in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, Kate was schooled in Boston, both in Harvard’s English department, where she studied the influence of jazz on modern poetry, and at Berklee College of Music, where she studied jazz guitar. She is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School in Lander, Wyoming, and an alumna and former board member of Teton Valley Ranch Camp. Kate has made music with Scott Colley, Terri Lyne Carrington, Julian Lage, to name only a few. In 2007 and 2009 Kate was the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Winner in the Jazz category and she has received multiple honors from ASCAP in Jazz Composition. Besides songwriting, Kate's other passion is coaching people through change. She started her company Incandescent Coaching in 2011.
