LEGACY GIVING

Have you included Ucross in your long-term financial or estate plans? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

In general, planned gifts enable an individual to make a charitable donation that is arranged in the present and allocated at a future date.

The recently-created
Cloud Peak Society recognizes all of our artists, friends, and supporters who have included Ucross in their estate planning. Planned giving is a wonderful way to ensure support for our artists and programs, as well as the stewardship of our ranch land. More important, it connects your life’s passions and commitments to Ucross’s mission, creating a legacy that is forever entwined with the mission of our prestigious and transformative artist residency program.

BEQUESTS

A charitable bequest is the official statement in a will, a trust, or an estate plan that designates a gift to a specific charity. If you were kind enough to include Ucross in a will, trust, or estate plan, we hope you’ll consider letting us know. We recognize everyone who's included Ucross in their plans as Cloud Peak Society members, unless, of course, they choose to remain anonymous. Thank you!

COMMON PLANNED GIFTS

Charitable Gift Annuity
Charitable gift annuity is a donation agreement with a nonprofit organization. The donor gives money to the nonprofit, which then pays the donor an annual set income from that sum until the pay period ends. The nonprofit retains the leftover funds.

Charitable Remainder Trust
A charitable remainder trust (CRT) is a trust gifted to a charity that pays an annual amount to the CRT trustee(s). Once the trust is complete, the charity receives the remaining funds. A CRT is different from an annuity in that while a charitable remainder annuity trust pays an amount each year, a CRT pays a percentage of the remaining trust fund.

Charitable Lead Trust
A charitable lead trust allows you to donate an annual stream of income to Ucross while making it possible to transfer assets to your heirs at a reduced tax.

Many donors also consider leaving a gift as part of a retirement plan or insurance policy.

We encourage you to discuss planned giving with your financial advisor to determine which option is best for you. If you have any questions about Legacy Giving at Ucross, the Cloud Peak Society, or how you can get involved, please contact William Belcher, Director of Development and External Relations.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Ucross Foundation acknowledges with respect that it is situated on the aboriginal land of several Indigenous communities, including the Cheyenne, Crow, and Lakota nations. Indigenous people continue to live in this area and practice their teachings and lifeways. Today, this region remains an important place for many Indigenous peoples. As a Wyoming institution, we recognize and respect this historical context and are working to build reciprocal relationships with the Native nations on whose lands we are situated. In partial fulfillment of that commitment, Ucross established Fellowships for Native American Visual Artists in 2017 and Native American Writers in 2020.
